Back Tension Release aids

I am waiting for my Little Pull release aid to arrive from America. Does anyone have any experience of shooting one of these (or any other bck tension release)?

Not sure that brand of release but I shot back tension for about 10 years. Shooting now a mixture of Trigger and back tension.
My wife exclusively uses Zenith Back tension release aids (you can see her on the Zenith website)

What did you want to know?

Marcus,

I've been shooting for several hundred years. Only moved over to the dark side 3 years ago, and have manged to get into the top 50 UK rankings, shooting a Tru Ball Loopmaster wrist release. I feekl that the drawing arm moves in a more natural direction with one of these rather than a thumb release.

A friend of mine came back from Las Vegas last year with one of these new fangled releases http://www.keystonecountrystore.com/...ber=REL2515405

I have ordered one, and was wondering if anyone experienced with a back tension release had any tips or comments about using one.

Geoff

I use a Tru-Ball BT Ultra Gold 3 for training purposes -- I haven't shot for a score with it yet. Shooting a triggerless release is pretty weird at first. You hold and hold, s-l-o-w-l-y drawing back and then WHUMPF!! Off it goes and you jump out of your skin.

It's good for developing discipline about aiming properly and not anticipating the shot, if you use it right, but it doesn't FORCE good technique as the manufacturers often imply. It's very easy to use it wrong and learn nothing.

Back tension releases scare the poo out of me! I'd be shooting birds out of the sky if I tried one!

Oh, the HHA one... they're GREAT.

Smoothness counts, you can't make it go just by yanking it. Also, be prepared to pull a fair bit, and it can take quite a while to make it go. But when it works right it's fantastic!

BT releases are the way to go. Most people I know who shot with a trigger to begin with and went to BT prefer it when they get there.
Personally, I tried Carter finger, thumb, pinky releases and ended up with a Zenith which I loved, and a Carter Atension 2, which was also very nice! But yes, true BT is difficult to find, and the HHA one is about the best you can get.

Are there any BT release aids with safety catches. Some thing that will prevent them going off until you reach anchor?
