| my first stupid question is :are you shooting recurve? and the second is; where have you positioned the fletches in relation to the nock? -2 o'clock and 8 o'clock is it ? - cos I just have to try tomorrow...I need to refletch and I'm short by 5 spinwings. |

Removed my original message because someone clearly thought me abrupt. It was not intended. Since my message did not add much to the discussion anyway I have removed it. ![]() Last edited by Flying Whale; 11-04-07 at 08:43 AM. Reason: See the new message |

If you read the post you will see that the veins are opposite each other symetrically, not 10 o'clock & 2 o'clock Quote:

| I am sorry if you feel I was being abrupt. It was in no way intended.... It was late at night, and I was on my way to bed, so did not want to write a long response. I also clearly missed the fact in the initial post that the spins were diametrically opposed. It still does not however answer the nock orientation. While I could hazard another guess, I will not bother. |

| Let's not take offence where none is intended. I would like to know more about this set-up. What kind of rest are you using? Is it a shoot-through or a fall-away? Are the vanes horizontally or vertically set? Thanks Mike

| Now Ive lost it guys - Where are the wings in relation to the nock? I have lost a wing in the past, and shot the arrow to watch it corkscrew, so opposite fletches would seem to be in order- Does 'two wings' spin faster or slower than 'three wings'? |

| Can we get back to discussing the pros and cons of two fletchings. I'm interested in knowing more about this as I have some clearance issues with 3 fletchings. I shoot compound with a spring steel launcher and narrow tripple shafts this leads to some contact which I'd rather not have. I like to shoot flonite K vanes but this makes the clearance worse but maybe two instead of three would solve the problem. I've shot 3 fletch shafts with a fletching missing before and been surprised how little difference it makes. All fletchings are doing is providing drag at the back and a method of rotating the shaft so two fletchings working harder will probably do the job of three. Some archers shoot with 4 fletchings so why are we so hung up on the 3 fletch design |

| This has been tried before (late 80's early 90's) and the concensus back then was that 3 fletchings were more useful in the wind. |
