| twists and peeps My compound bow has quite a few twists in the string and I am currently increasing my poundage quite frequently. Each time I increase the poundage the peep twists around, which is frustrating. I figured if the string had no twists, this would not happen???? Could I save myself frustration by having the string made the right length without twists? Is there any adverse aspects to having strings without twists? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| They parachute as you release slowing down the shot.

| My Supertec has a string fitted peep sight which suffers the same issue. My Browning Vanguard II was fitted with a peep with a rubber tube that rotates it around at full draw. They are considered "less good" than traditional peeps, but if you are at a stage in your shooting where you are adjusting poundage regularly, this may be the fastest and easiest solution. Bowsports sell one called a Fine-Line Pickapeep which has adjustable aperture and costs £7.40, or a cheaper not adjustable aperture at £5.83 http://www.bowsports.com/acatalog/Bo...Sights_99.html Targetcraft do the same two items at £5.95 and £4.60 from their downloadable PDF catalogue, part numbers 48320 and 48300 Targetcraft do not have an online shop, so you need to call them on 01536 726677 and quote one of the above part numbers. Their catalogue (2005/6 latest) is at http://www.targetcraft.eclipse.co.uk...etcraft_05.PDF (Right mouse and Save As) I find Targetcraft nicer to talk to and faster delivery, but the Bowsports website has a more modern parts list and you can order online. I am not associated with either company. YMMV. Once you decide to re-fit a standard peep, I personally like the Shurz-a-peep (£3.84 same peep links to bowsports as above) and the excellent TruBall Speed Loop aligning nock (Bowsports £10.94 http://www.bowsports.com/acatalog/Bo...liers_128.html ) I hope this helps a bit. Regards Ivan

| ABCWARRIOR Thanks for your excellent advice. I have tried the pick-a-peep and didn't like it because I found the peep size adjustment method to be a bit awkward to use and the plastic "teeth" wore very quicky. I currently use a peep with a "rubber hose" like you mention, even that gets twisted, but I will stick with it untill a better solution comes along. I had thought about the speed loop but I have heard bad things about them, mainly that they can break easily and unpredictably. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

The Truball D-Loop is the entire dloop made of metal. The Truball Speed Loop is a nock that is a flat blade, so aligning the string with the arrow so the peep stays aligned at full draw. This Speed Loop is not a dloop, you have to use a dloop made of normal material as well. I suspect that you mean you have heard of issues where the metal loop fails. I have not heard of this but I am new here. I wouldn't have thought the Speed Loop fails, as there is nothing to take strain or fail on it! Pics are below. A note: The Truball D-Loop metal loop is too thick for the jaw of a Carter Chocolate Lite release aid to close around. Anyone who wants a boxed brand new metal D-Loop at a discount please PM me! lol Regards Ivan ![]()

I understand that a good string will not stretch and change much over its lifetime so the peep should stay in position correctly. I did not know that the dynamics of the twisted string under tension differed between makes and that quality strings would stay in the same orientation under different loads when the bows poundage was changed. Is that just for mild changes, 2lb or 3lb, or across the whole 10lb, 20lb or 30lb ranges some bow have? Ivan

| Why in God's name would you use a metal d-loop at all?
