Lincoln (EMAS) Double FITA Star and Metrics for juniors Three weeks to go, and we still have places. Where are all the juniors who wanted to be able to take part in a fita star? We are including METRICS for juniors for the first time this year. Only 2 have signed up. Do we bother again next year? Where are all the EMAS archers? Most of the entries have come from Southern Counties. Doesnt anyone in EMAS shoot FITA? Anyone interested PM me for an entry form, or go download from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/christo...ncolndfs07.pdf

sudden rush after a flurry of entries that nearly wore my postman out, we are now up to 5 juniors. Keep them comming. After a slight c*ck up on the IT front (mine, apparently), we now have the all important listing on the EMAS website So come on boys and girls, junior ladies and gentlemen, juniors and cadets, you wanted this shoot, come and give David someone to compete with. We might even have some chocolate (why isnt there a "chocolate" smiley?)Adults, we still have a few spaces if you want to come too! (but no chocolate)

Today I acted as bag carrier for archery_mum, not shooting myself. We had everything from sunshine to thunder and lightning, still conditions to blustery conditions. It was a real mix of weather with some of the heaviest rain I have seen for a while. We all had to retreat into our tents while the worst of the thunderstorm passed directly overhead. Well organised by the ladies and gents of Lincoln and Grimsby, Chris (Grimsby Archer) even laid on a flypast by the Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricaine and Dakota of the Battle of Britain flight at lunchtime. However I had actually asked Chris if we could have the Red Arrows ![]() We were joking with Chris about this in the morning and by chance the Battle of Britain flight were practising for next weekends Waddington Airshow and decided to use us for their practise flypasts. We are back for more tomorrow and hopefully the rain will hold off. Not sure of the scores the last time I checked the leaderboard Ben from Merlin was leading the gents compound with GB shooter, Neil Dowsett in second place. In the ladies compound I think Archery_mum won the first leg with a 1307 but Rebecca from EUAC was very close on points at the second to last dozen. Archery_mum (Wendy) shot an arrow with a missing point .... oops and had equipment failure, so a 1307 was OK under the circumstances and with the bad weather too. On the downside some prats had come into the field during the night and nocked some bosses over, taken tent pegs out and let some tyres down before being chased off. The organisers were up a b0ll0cks o'clock to sort the bosses out for everyone starting to arive at about 7.30 Hopefully tonight will be a little quieter for everyone camping out.

Sundays weather was worse than Saturdays but without the thunder and lightning. It also turned out that the guy who had his tyres let down had actually had them punctured with one of the flags from the top of the target. I think he had to leave his car there last night till someone could come out and replace his 4 tyres However, the organisers had arranged for a couple of guys to 'patrol' the campsite overnight on Saturday, this seemed to work as a van turned up early in the morning and drove off when they were approached. As far as the actual tournement went, it was well organised, the work party did an excellent job in aweful weather conditions and there was a lot of common sense judging which made it more enjoyable for everyone. Hopefully the results will be out soon but Neil Dowsett won the mens double compound, Wendy (archery_mum) the ladies compound, London Archers took the team award and Beverley Stevens (junior shooting an adult round) came second in the ladies recurve and took the Simon Terry Shield and added about 100 to her PB. Ben Jones and Andy Rikunenko shot one day each. I think Ben did very well on the Saturday and Andy took one of the distance awards on the Sunday. In my opinion the 'Star' of the weekend was 11 yr old Zak Crawford, a junior recurve shooting for Targetcraft who shot over 1300 on Sunday.

Thanks for the kind words WM Congrats to Wendy on a sterling shoot, and everyone who shot well. Many thanks to the AA man who opened the car of the guy who locked his keys and his bow in his car, just before shooting on the Sunday Results will be up on the lincs county website if I get home throught the rain today and correct the spelling mistakes. My heartfelt congrats to my good friend Judge Kelvin Oldham who was successful in his upgrade to Regional Judge. Kelvin's initiation test was to find a fita first timer and pointing out (in a friendly but firm manner) that, although the shoot was declared inclement (understatement of the year), the archers green shirt was the WRONG COLOR GREEN!!!! Well done Kelvin, passed with flying colors (so to speak)![]() ADDITION: Incidentally over the two days we had 90 competitors: 26 SCAS 9 WMAS 3 DNAA 2 SAA 3 NCAS 1 WALES 1 DIRECT GNAS TOTAL 45 from out side EMAS Therefore we has 45 entries from within EMAS 26 LINCOLNSHIRE 10 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 4 NORTHAMPTONSHIRE 2 DERBYSHIRE 3 LRCAA (didn't show) Thanks everyone who supported us. Hope we get the chance to do it all again next year Last edited by grimsby archer; 25-06-07 at 01:41 PM. Reason: added info
