Just got back.... the wind was the strongest I have ever shot in, (according to the Met Office it was gusting to 43mph with a steady 26mph) and I am sure some of the others thought so too. I will let English_archer put a full report and results up. From a personal point of view Wendy and I had a great day with some friendly people and we all had a good laugh. Thanks to our visitors who made the effort to travel to sunny Friskney. Especially well done to young Sarah who despite the most appaling wind managed to keep going till the end.

I was VERY relived to arrive at the field this morning to find it nice and dry under foot after the heavy rain overight I was expecting a swamp,But as it turned out we had blue skies overhead ,green grass underfoot and as Trev has said a howling gale blowing.
I would like to thank Trevor(watch_man)Wendy(archery_mum) and Paul(recurve_paul) for measuring out and setting up the field yestrday so all we had to do this morning was set out the bosses and we were ready to go
Shooting straight into a strong (ice cold) wind certainly proved to be all challnge we could ask for but everyone seemed to be having a good time (lets face it whats more fun than archery ?)
With the exception of Zoe who's cold got the better of her, everyone who started the challenge finished a special mention to 9 young Sarah who stuck it out right to the bitter end .
The scores are as follow's
TENS HITS TOTAL
english_ archer -10 84 626
compound kid- did not shoot
phil_r_58- 14 84 678
miss roberts- 1 19 82
phz- 6 84 600
zoepaul- retired
watch_man- 10 84 689
recurve_paul- 7 82 452
pete-60- 17 84 704
rod- 9 84 691
archery_mum 27 83 741

been back a while but my dodgy hands have only just thawed out enough to type properly !

lovely day at friskney (zoe and her sinuses thought different obviously ! ) - bright sunshine - great company - and an icy head wind !

(as i said to trevor i have shot in stronger - and wetter - but not much to be honest)

anyway - some photos -

trevor (watch_man) struggles to decipher how his antlers work

craig (english_archer)

paul (recurve_paul) and wendy (archery_mum)

the wind and its effect on our arrows (short video here (and NO it hasnt been speeded up) - http://experimentfour.brinkster.net/...manlincs01.avi)

the whole gang (from left to right - wendy / paul / pete / zoe / trevor / rod / rod junior (oliver ? ) / phil / sarah (just visible) / craig / me (extreme bottom right due to elementary photography error - but at least its not like i teach the subject or anything ! )

scoring the last end of the day - almost looks pretty doesnt it ?
