Lincolnshire County Windsor

The provisional target list for the Lincolnshire County Windsor (11/05/08) has been posted in the drop box and is also available from Friskney Bowmen Lincolnshire Archery Club

There are still some places left for ladies and gents Windsor all styles and a couple of Junior and short Windsor places.

Anyone interested please either PM me or ring the T/O Malcolm Adams on (01754) 820347

The round will be shot at Friskney Bowmen between Boston and Skegness.

Is it "County" windsor or "County and Open"?

The County website and entry form both say 'County Windsor' and don't mention open. So really the answer is I do't know cos I just went off the entry form

I think it would be open though... what do you think?

We could raise it at the next county meeting which I have just been told has been moved to 18th June. I didnt know we were having a meeting, never mind moving it
Personally I sit on the fence between "its a county shoot" and "fill every space", though I would have thought there would be enough entries from within the county to fill it anyway. Surprised you have spaces this late on

I raised it tonight with Malcolm and Paul and was told that it has been shot as an open in the past but one of the lincs archers complained that a visitor could win and take the trophy. Certainly as organisers we would welcome anyone to the shoot.

I can understand that principal. Imagine someone from Yorkshire (or worse) being Lincs champion, whether it be County Champion, or County Windsor Champion. Certainly you have to be a member of the county to hold either the county champs or county indoor champs trophies (and Mrs GA agrees with me!).

Surely as a visitor they would just win the visitors medal and would not have been eligible for the trophy. This seems to be standard practice. I think it is more likely that archer X from Lincs saw archer Y from Notts and thought that his trophy was gone. Instead of just accepting that the guy from Notts would be treat as a visitor a fuss was made

As the hosting club we are very happy to see visitors at all our tournaments and in a County type competition Malcolm would put on as many separate classes as were required. (providing it was approved by County of course)

BTW will Ashley be eligible for the Novice trophy as he is shooting his Compound for the first time in competition I believe

The consititution says quite clearly that only members of the (county) society may hold challenge trophies.
My thoughts would be with the (inevitable) county members who ring up to book in on Saturday (as far as I am aware there is no closing date for entries) to be told "sorry the last 10 places went to another county. Should county members be given priority (?) for these bookings.

As for Ashley, the definition of a "novice" for this trophy (I believe) is someone who has NEVER won a challenge trophy. Ashley HAS won county trophies (I think - county fita 2 or 3 years ago). Bow style is irrelevant otherwise you could be a novice each year RC/CU/LB/BB etc

Perhaps there should be a cut off date of 1 week before the tournament for County members and then it would be open for the last week to anyone who would want to take part.

I believe we have 2 novices shooting!

09/05/08 11am - Target list amended.
