Not fully sure of myself yet at 100yrd / 90m but hope to get there this outdoor season.
one Competition i am interested in is the Golden Arrow in June.
Question is as the outdoor competitions are bigger do they fill up so quick or do you have to get in early |
The Golden Arrow and oregon are both good shoots. Basically the Sheriff of Nottingham sanctioned the Golden Arrow a million years ago for some reason and it's still going. Nice easy 6 doz @ 60 yards. Loads of chances to win prizes (although I think a lot are for Notts archers).
The Oregon is an annual match that Notts shoot against Oregon USA. It's basically a FITA 900 ish round. Not as many prizes but always good to have a stab at 40 with the size of that 10 ring
Regarding shoots filling up. Some fill up dead quick (Kirby Muxloe Fita Star filled up about 2 months before it happens I think), others don't, it's really down to experience knowing which ones do and don't. If you're unsure, book early (generally the higher the status (WRS, UKRS) the more chance of filling up).
My advice on this event,if you like your eardrums intact, don't phone up 2 days before hand!!!
