Smile Winstar Ii Vs Eclipse

Just getting back into the sport and was looking for opinions and ideas on the Windstar II and the Eclipse. I also was looking at the Win and Win Everest Pro Limbs, as well. Both risers are equally priced. Also why not just buy the inno limbs and handle even though it will shoot far better than I can. All point of views welcome.

Had the eclipse for 6 months and can`t fault it, I would highly reccomend it, but have changed the limb bolts on mine from my old avalon 2.

i can recommend the winstar II, i love it! i had about £100 for my riser, so i bought the WstarII for 2 reasons.... 1, i had tried one along with an evolution and an Agulla riser and preferred the feel of it, and 2 ( the main reason ), it wa the one in my price range that looked fancy!

Its solid and very well made for the price, the limb adjustment pockets are easy to use and well machined. it has all the screwthreads for anything you can think of attaching ( like any other riser really! )

if i had more money for a riser when i bought one i would have bought a Matrix but now i have settled into my form and got a good tune, i wouldnt change it for the world, you get very attached to your kit

to summarise, i love the Winstar II, but if money isnt an issue the general consensus on the forum is spend more on a riser, as it will be with you a lot longer as you change limbs and attachments.

agree with 'n' there about the winstar2 (heehee - including the main reason for choosing one ! ) - in my mad rush to upgrade stuff its the single piece of my starting out setup i still use and have no REAL burning desire to change (yet)

obviously if you can then try them both to see which feels better to you personally

not sure about US prices but in the UK at the moment if you shop around that same price bracket (ie - comparable to an eclipse) will also get you a good deal on the SF riser or a PSE intrepid

Since I own and shoot an Eclipse and have had nothing but good results from it I can in truth only say it's a heck of a nice riser and well worth it's money. Try them both and see what feels best to you, this way you'll hopefully find the riser that not only fits your bank balance, but also and more importantly IMHO fits you!

Hi Jet13,

Is there a pro-shop in your area where you could try them both? I don't think you could possibly go wrong with either the Eclipse or the Winstar II, they're both very good bows but also very different (especially the grips), so you really need to shoot them and choose the one that suits you.

The TEC bar on the Eclipse makes the bow feel stiffer and reduces vibration. I think the Eclipse is also marginally lighter - you probably wouldn't notice the difference - but if the TEC bar means you need fewer stabilisors/dampeners then it could make your whole setup lighter by a lot.

The Winstar II is cheaper at most retailers, and as such may give you better value in a bow.

I bought the Eclipse because it felt best of all the affordable bows in the shop; however I have since tried a Matrix and have to say that I prefer the feel of a riser without the TEC bar (even though the Matrix is still out of my price range). And then again... any number of folks would tell you the opposite, so you really just need to try them both.

[Edit: By the way, I just noticed this: if you really call your current bow a "Stacker 3000 stickbow" then you DEFINITELY won't go wrong with a Winstar II or Eclipse!]

I shot my first few dozen arrows from my Hoyt Eclipse today after giving up on my Winact (not winstar)riser. I just couldn't get comfy with it and ended up torqing it endlessly. The eclipse dropped straight into my hand and despite it not been set up properly (ok I hadn't done anything other than the most basis tuning) it felt great. Groups were much better.

All of that said, try both if you can and make your own mind up from there.

Another vote for the eclipse, but you should try them both and see which you prefer.

Vouch Eclipse! One of the best risers out the IMHO although do as usual try before you buy. Rule of the thumb
