If they are square and seem to have a frame round them of blue tape(usually blue) I have used one when I shot recurve and found them to be quite poor. They very quickly start to let arrows pass through. Layered foam ones are very good.

OK for lower poundage bows, I went down this route when I started shot it to pieces in a very short time, you will probably better served saving your money & buying a proper foam or straw boss. I have had a foam boss 1 Meter square for two years now and it still stops my Navs with a 40 lb draw recurve.

Not very good targets, the holday site i worked at last summer had them, anything over 26lb goes thru them, and dont even attempt a 60lb compound as it doesnt even stop the arrow.

Can't really add to the statements above. Just don't buy one!

Layered foam and Danage butts are good.

Another option is to approach your club to see if you can have an old one. The middle may be shot out and not much good for the club but the edges are usually still ok to use. I got two from my club (I double them up) for a small donation to club funds. Ideal for practice at home.

What about one of those tuff shot bags, im getting one as soon as i can afford it. think there about £30ish with P&P from Merlin.
And as ive just been given a job as a grounds keeper in S. Wales i have lots of room to practise after work.
