New Limbs

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question.

I want to upgrade my limbs and am looking to spend between £250-300. I'v had a quick look around and there are some nice ones in that range.

Just wanted to know your views of the ones available.

Thanks

Paul

P.S I am going to try them before I buy, so lets leave that out could we

Best thing to do is try them. Your best bet would be to have a look at Winex, M1, Extreme and the border limbs that fall into that price bracket. Don't just buy them though, if you can get to a shop, try them out. Each different limb suits different people.

Speaking as a complete newbie returner (so, listening to me will get you what you deserve) who just plonked down a load of cash but hasn't shot much for 20 years... I went with WINNEX after trying them vs Hoyt CRX and Sammick Extreme. Not sure if it is their match to the W&W riser or just something, but they felt very different in "sponginess" to the other two pairs (which felt very similar to each other, even given the price difference).

Winex limbs

Can you be more specific regarding sponginess, since I plan to buy some Winex limbs for my W&W riser and would be interested in your comments, are you saying they fitted better and felt better since they were out of the stable, ie W&W.

Wish I could, but I haven't got the right language for it. The W&W limbs felt "smoother" in that they flicked the shot towards the target and the string just sort of lazily settled into the bow after the arrow left it. The other limbs felt much, erm, "slappier". Oh, must own up though - the CRXs were 36lb while the other two pairs were 34lbs.

Go, try them. Make your own mind up

When deciding on my new setup, I tried - Winex, G3, M1 and Border EP10s I think.

Borders were very snappy, G3s very spongey and pathetic *ducks*; Winex were the happy medium for me, if I had to go Hoyt at some point - I would go M1 over G3, they feel like they have a bit more oomph in them.

I'd have to echo some of the comments, but add:
It's a matter of taste.
I chose Extremes because I like "snappy" over "spongy".

But be aware of the differences in the measured weight between the different brands of limbs. If you pick (for example) Extremes and G3s of the same marked weight, they won't just feel different - they *will* be different weights...
Extremes on my Winact come up about 2 pounds heavier than marked, Hoyts about 2 pounds lighter. That's a net 4 pounds difference...

LOL!! It's amazing how when someone says "dont worry about the try before you buy stuff, coz I'll do that anyway", the first few replies are exactly that!

I'm not sure what W&W now make as the replacement to the Everest Pros, but I can highly recommend them. They're smooth, beautifully made, and I've shot several 12 dozen rounds with them now and they're just a joy to shoot, all day long. IIRC they were around £250.
