Piles, brass or steel?

I want to try making my own arrows. Can anyone tell me which is best for wooden arrows – brass piles or steel? Taper or parallel, glue-on or threaded. What difference does it make?

I have tried both and prefer brass as I found the steel ones sometimes arrived dented. Starting using taper fit but have now been transfered to parallel as it is quite easy to get them on nice and straight.....and eventually I might even pin them as well. Tried threaded and hated them, but other say they are fine.... it is probabally just me.

Have fun making your first set of arrows.
