| Strong knife Just wondered if anyone can recommend a good small strong lock or sheath knife. Now and again when I hit the wooden butts (or a tree!) it is handy to use a knife to help wiggle the arrow free! |

WILDSTEER knife for archer Made with the archer in mind they come with tools and attachments explictly for getting arrows out of wood (or anything else you might hit). |

| The last time I drove up to visit Bowsports I was looking at their knife selection, specifically with a view to helping extricate arrows while doing field archery, and the guy there actually told me not to bother. He said what Jerry says above: a good flat-blade screwdriver is probably all you'll need. And he was right. So I carry one in my quiver when I'm shooting field, though I always have my Leatherman Fuse with me when doing any kind of shooting. Strangely enough, the only time I've had to use the Leatherman on a target butt is when shooting wooden arrows with tapered field points... ![]()

| I found a horses hoof cleaner (basically a flat blade screw driver with a ninety degree bend in the end) is very good for this

| Dont go spending silly money on a knife. The best buy is a bayonet. Cheap, good steel and you can bash it like a chisel for those really deep piles (no pun intended). I picked up off ebay a 1960 sig bayonet and scabbard for £12 and i'll bet you'll never bend this blade. |

| Don't forget that lock knifes are illegal!!!

| Lock knives are not illegal if they have an intended purpose !!!!! |

| I have to disagree on your last post. here's why Having Bladed or Pointed Article in public place- Criminal Justice Act 1988,s.139(1) This offence applies to any sharply pointed article or articles having a blade. Folding pocket knives are excluded unless the cutting edge of the blade exceeds three inches (7.62cm). If the knife is a lock knife, it will be covered by this offence irrespective of whether the blade is actually open at the time (Harris v DPP [1993] 1 WLR 82) This suggests that lock knives are illegal per se.
