Best advice I can give is to wait till you have finished your beginners course before you start looking at buying equipment. It will be too tempting to buy what may seem the right thing at the time, but within a very short time, you will have out grown it.

Really really really - do not buy anything - and ask the advice of your coach(es) before you do

If you absolutely...positively...have to buy something when you're in the shop there would probably be no harm in buying things like a decent quiver, a decent arm guard and a decent tab. That way you'll have got some kit and you'll feel better

Just don't buy a bow or anything like that ... no really don't you'll most likely regret it later

Wouldn’t it be easier to try Ten ring in Ramsgate?
But whatever do not buy a bow until you have finshed the course.

Best wishes, Mark Huff

As everyone has said, do not buy any major equipment.
However, along with the other bits, do buy a finger sling. The highlight(for me) of when I run a Beginners' course is when I show the victims how to make one from a shoelace. "It's easy - just tie the ends together thumb and forefinger through out and over loop it round your thumb same at other end and hey-presto" - bewildered faces and many impressions of brown paper packages. These are a few of my favourite things.
Oh and get yourself a notebook and get in the habit of writing down what you are doing.

Look at the equipment other club members have, and watch them shoot. Eliminate rubbish. Get catalogues from Quicks and Bowsports and Alternative. Study the web sites and ask questions.

Go along and have a look and ask questions, a reputable dealer will not sell you anything 'til your course has finished and the kit others have suggested you buy is a waste of your money as it will be included in your package deal!!
