I had trouble removing a stubbornly stuck on metal plate rest once and someone recommended I applied WD40 on the riser round the rest edges and leave overnight. I did this and in the morning the rest just lifted off. I used kitchen towel and a soapy cloth to clean off the WD40 residue. Result one riser without rest and without scratched paintwork and no broken nails. Even though bendy rubber thingy stuck on will peel more easily than a non bendy metal plate I still reckon this is a no-effort method for removing stuck on stuff.

A hair drier gently aimed around the base of the limb saver for a couple of minutes will allow them to be easily removed
