Cartel Balkan Multirod

Now I know there's not many of us (and I just know somebody'll say " serves you right you should know better than to buy...) but does anyone else have experience of the tuner covers on the Balkan cracking?

I swear I've not abused the thing but in about 8 months of very gentle use four of the tuner covers have failed with what looks like plastic "fatigue" along or near the line followed by the carbon rods. Of course, once they fail there's nothing to hold the tuners in place. There's signs of failure on another couple as well - so it'll probably be in the bin by this time next week.

Mentioned it to the dealer I had it from - I can buy replacement covers for a pound each! - like I would want to!!

Anyone else had this kind of problem??

I only know one archer using these and he's had the same problem. He bought some extra covers and they did exactly the same within 5 months. He's now binned it and bought a Merlin setup.

had mine just over 6 months and havent been particularly careful with them but (having just checked) cant see any damage of this sort on mine (caveat - i havent moved the tuners at all and have only once removed the cover on one)

Mine was DOA. A touch of superglue will fix it, but I sent it back for replacement. I sold the replacement and the connecting bolt is now loose.N.B. Do not buy Cartel.

I've never seen the Balkan multirod up close. Is it a direct copy of the Beiter? Are the parts interchangeable?

no - i bought a few beiter tuner covers to find out exactly that

the allen bolt holes are in VERY slightly different positions so the beiter covers wont fit the balkans

other than these (patent / copyright dodging ? ) minor differences they are pretty much a total copy of the beiter system

75% of the people that have replied! Try and play fair guys - we all know that Cartel kit isn't at the leading edge but then they don't charge leading edge prices. Why people keep trying to save a few quid and expect top notch gear is beyond me!
