Cartel Archery Products.

Please list those Cartel products that have not broken and are still in use witout repair.I see too mant reports of damaged kit and others extolloing the item. I realise that many beginners are short on advice and cash, but e.g. Cartel sights are difficult to adjust and start their death rattle early on in life. I know it is not nice to knock a product but seeing another thread about Balkan rods has prompted this thread.

Mike, you beat me to it. I've been mulling over starting a 'hidden gems' style thread for Cartel products for a while. Anyway, down to business.

Two products stand out in my experience.
  • Cartel Triple/Olympian Shafts
  • Cartel RX10 Bowstand
'Triples' are a favourite of any archer on a budget looking for some high quality and high spec arrow shafts. Spine selection aside (which can be a bit of a dark art even with Easton) the only other problems are the components. The cartel nocks are rubbish and the points are adequate (stainless points - the old ones with a brass collar are prone to bending). Combined with Beiter nocks and Arrowsmith Components points these are a great arrow.

The RX10 is Cartel's copy of the 'Atlanta' bow stand. Unlike the majority of Cartel's 'copies' this actually has some design improvements such as the ability to fold up the legs when storing it. It's rugged and well made and I've had no problems with it (been using it for about a year).

I have had some bad experiences with Cartel kit. Notably the Triple Button which broke before I had even screwed it into my riser. The tolerances on their stabiliser threads and weights also leave much to be desired.

im using the following cartel products...

RX10 stand
4" extender
28" longrod
2 x 10" shorts
triple button
Activa sight
cartel 'cavalier' tab

every bit of it is fine and does its job well. The only thing i have any desire to change at all is the sight, i would like something like a Shibuya ultima but theres nowt wrong with my Activa.

i have encountered some elitist attitudes towards cartel along the lines of 'urgh its cartel, why dont you go and buy some REAL equipment'. Obviously you get what you pay for, and all the cartel bits i bought on a budget but they work well enough that i have no need at all to change them.

i must just be lucky

I can second that. Bought some Cartel short rods to replace old ones that broke and they've stripped the threads on my AGV V-bar. So while trying to save money I'm down by thirty quid. Never again.

My quiver is still going strong after two years, and my sons Cartel copy of the Cavalier tab still looks ok. So not ALL bad.

I've got quite few bits of Cartel kit. My experience is that:

The quiver is excellent
RX105 bowstand - great once I superglued the magnets in.

Ally/Carbon longrod - excellent (got one for me and one for the boy)
Dampers - excellent
Cartel Smart tab - excellent (esp with OB tab material)

Carbon Twins / V bars - had problems with both - threads, poor manuf tolerance (all the twins I have are marked as 10" and they're all different lengths - variation is up to 3/4 inch!).

Balkan multirod - don't get me started - ooops too late I already did!

Well I love my triples (with arrowsmith components )
RX 10 bow stand nice its red and matches my bow
Carbon alloy long rod and twins O.K. adjustable Vbar CRAP no other word for it its all due to be replaced with merlin triads very soon (but the compound kid has claimed the cartel long rod)
Fletching jig faultless and sooo cheap
Use to have a short damper on my EVO 2 but dont need it on my hoyt
Got through a couple of sights when we first started out and yes they rattled themselves to bits

One I forgot to mention.

The Cartel Junior Arrows are a total bargain as well. Specs somewhere between Jazz and XX75 and only a bit more expensive than Jazzes. They're bomb proof too.

I've got a full Cartel stabiliser set up - long rod, v bar, short rods and extension.

They've started to creak a bit when tightening and the threads certainly aren't to the tightest tolerences but they haven't fallen apart after a year of use. Yet.

I've had mixed results with Cartel stuff. But I still use: -

Triples (Beiter nocks & Arrowsmith points)
2 x siderods
V-bar
Extender

My wife has a cartel sight and its still works perfectly.
