General rule of thumb - new string material + old limbs = bad idea. Q.V, Fast flight on a wooden bow.

How old is "old"? I've got a 25 (or more) year old KG1 which could certainly take fastflight (hell, it could cope with *kevlar*, which was a tougher proposition). It's not really an "age" thing, so much as a "quality" issue. I suspect a fair number of "wooden" bows are well able to take fastflight as well (anything from Border, for example).

What I think you're trying to say is "don't use it on a training bow". I'd probably include the plastic or metal handled trainers in that category as well...

Just to back that up, I used 450 Plus on my old KG1 (not quite that old, I think) and it was fine. Border also supply all their traditional recurves and flatbows with flemish twist Fastflight strings, as I recall.
