Cartel Fletching Jig

Just received my cartel jig from Alternative Archery, very impressed so far - magnet very strong!! However, how do you use it? I mean the nock locator just spins all the way round, i thought it said that it had pre set distances for each fletching? I have 2 allen keys, 3 grub holes and no idea? Can anyone help me out?

Haven't used a cartel jig but I'd bet that it's the grub holes that alter the fletching angles. Try screwing the one furthest from the dial in (with the others screwed out but not removed). Don't screw it all the way in but just enough to get the jig to work as expected (it should push against a ball bearing). That's the standard setting on the Bitzenberger (which I believe the cartel jig is a copy of).

Edit: Ah hang on I'm probably wrong see this from the Alt Services website

The arrow is held in place by the nock locator which is marked to show the #### fletching position and is preset to rotate through 120 degree increments to provide the desired fletching results. As an additional feature, 90 degree and 60 degree increments can be achieved by undoing the locking screw and sliding the nock locator unit in or out.

It is a bit of a mystery, however a very capable jig once set! A bit of loosening /tightening of each grub screw will soon make it obvious where the settings should be, and once set all will be fine

I'm sure you can just put it all back in, as long as you remember which hole the bearing came out of. I do exactly the same thing with my Cartel sight every once in a while, loosen the screw too much and everything comes flying out. I'm only guessing but I think the order of putting things back into the hole would be 1. ball bearing 2. spring 3. locking screw. Hope this helps?

If you've still got the bits that popped out then I'd say its fixable. Put the bearing back in, then the spring and screw the grub screw back in.

Don't count on a reply from Cartel. I've never received a reply from them about anything.

ok thanks tom/russ - should the springs line up with any particular indentation on the main barrel of the jig. On the jig there are three patterns of small indents should the bearing have to drop into one of these holes?
