| removing stubborn straw off carbon arrows I shoot solid carbon arrows that have quite a dull surface finish. When shooting into straw bosses, they keep on growing a layer of straw around the shaft near the tip. They are also really difficult to remove. Can anyone advise what is the best way to remove this straw. Also what is the best way to stop it regrowing so fast! I have tried cleaning with acetone, but it is not terribly effective despite being quite expensive, I think most of it evaporates into my lungs (I feel pretty chilled out after doing it though!). I dont like the idea of abrasives too much for fear of damaging the fibres of carbon. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| i usually just use a thumb nail between ends... or hot water after a shoot if it is a problem. silicon spray to keep it off. |

| Same. Hot water and a fingernail works for me. However, for lubing up the arrows, I've been told that a little bit of furniture polish mixed with water does a good trick. I perosnally use silicone lube, just because I can, but that could be a solution (horrible pun, I know) if you can't get hold of the silicone stuff. |

| Just use arrow lube and repeat after every dozen shots. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A stainless stel pan scourer and a silicone shoe shine work wonders!!! Failing that, get Nav FMJ's!!! |

| Clear shoe polish on a sponge applicator - they come in a plastic holder replenisher from many supermarkets. Once you get a build up of glue on the shafts from a straw boss more straw sticks. If you know you're going to a tournament with straw bosses its in idea to pack a wet sponge and old towel - its much kinder to the arrows than scraping the gunge off with the edge of your bracing guage.
