Merlin Triad Stabilisers After going online to buy a doinker and a cheap clicker to try to improve my draw length I got distracted by the Merlin Triads. Then having read various threads on here and Merlin/Ben's promises about "satisfaction guarenteed", I ended up punting for a set after talking to Ben about what lengths to go for in the first instance. Even though I ordered on Weds and expected to get them next week, I was pleasantly suprised to see a mail on Thursday telling me that the new kit was on the way. Again, luckily, Merlin use couriers and I was not affected by the postal strike and got to try them for the first time yesterday at our 20 yard indoor session. Now, I haven't done a test of no-stabs / old Cartel stabs / Triads, but overall my shooting yesterday was better than ever before. I got quite a few 4x10 from 6 arrows (which is good for me) and the bow certainly felt much more solid. Going to the outdoor session this afternoon and I hope my 50/60 yards will improve. The one thing that wasn't clear at the time is that only the long rod comes with moveable weights. I may ask Merlin if I can fit additionally supplied moveable weights to one or both short rods in an effort to balance the sight's weight. At the moment I grabbed two small weights from my old Cartels onto the left hand short-rod - before the dampner, of course. In summary, having only shot a dozen ends or so, I am very happy with both the kit and with Merlin. If I get any more realistic comparisons done then I will followup here, but I very much doubt I will want to remove my new toys from the bow just yet ![]()

I got outside, but again I didn't do a before-and-after comparison. The bow certainly feels better balanced and more stable (sort of dull / dead) after a shot - which I like. Maybe Saturday, indoors, I will try again - but I have a TV repair man coming at some point in the day, so I may not get any shooting on Saturday ![]()

| If your thinking of buying triads and you decide to go for the "kit" with quick detach v bar, bear in mind the v bar doesn't have any angle on it. I overlooked that and found the v bar surplus to requirement. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

V good point which I failed to mention. I am happy with the flat, non-angled quick release v-bar, but others may well want a more configurable v-bar...

I had a triad extender & short rods for a fews days (dispatched wrong items...) and found that loosening a short rod sometime caught on the extender. Hope that makes sense.... ![]()

Yes it made sense, and no, no problem like that yet. It may be a very specific conbination of angles for the triangular end bits that cross over each other.
