I have a set coming soon. I will try to remeber to post some pics and review as well. Its good to have a good comparison.

Sorry but I do think your being just a little picky. But I do understand your points.

Wraps are a pain to put on and with his work load a little mishap like that could be forgiven but I do understand your concern.

The marking is obviously something Jim was concerned about as he has now stopped doing plain rods.

The short thread is not nessacerilly a problem just a bit annoying on your part as you are unable to use your current quick release.

Not having a go just expressing my opinion.

Also as far as damping the wholes in the rods are their to add a bit of flexability to rod for shock absorb. However I have also ordered a bow jax as a back up as well.

Hi

perhaps on the wraps I am being a little picky but the Quick Release is important. There is no point having to remove a QR system mid shoot to use the Postens. The idea of a QR system is so that stabs can be put on quickly.

They were bought for my wife who does change longrod lengths during a shoot and therefore needs this function.

I have had a chance to give them a closer look since earlier posts and even when fitted just using the thread, they are noisy and rattle a little. I hope yours turn out OK and work for you as you expect.

Thumbs down import tax

Just being nosey but did you have to pay any import duty/tax on the stabilisers. I know you have to pay VAT but looking on the import tax website Archery goods should come under the 0% bracket tarec code 9507 Fishing rods, fish-hooks and other line fishing tackle; fish landing nets, butterfly nets and similar nets; decoy 'birds'(other than those of heading 9208 or 9705) and similar hunting or shooting requisites or the tarec code 9506 Articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics, athletics, other sports (including table-tennis) or outdoor games, not specified or included elsewhere in this chapter; swimming pools and paddling pools. I think people could be charged unlawfully without knowing it. Hope this helps future importers. Gary

very interesting post. I was fortunate that ours came through without being stopped. We have also had a Sizzor rest delivered on Saturday which did not get stopped.

At the end of the day it all depends on how much the VAT would be and how much it would cost them to chase it.

My gear is valued at £100. VAT of £17.50. Is it really worth chaseing £17.50 or go for another shipment worth £1000? Chances are they wont bother.

After waiting since last October our replacement set of Posten Stabs turned up yesterday. These are blue powder coated and the standard of finish is much higher than the original set. I also notice that they have replaced some of their aluminium weights with steel weights to make it just about right

However as we have had to wait 3 months for a replacement they are redundant now so I may ebay them or sell them at the club..... a shame really because this is the quality they should have been to start with.

Just keep hold of it. you never know when you will need a spare. I currently have 1 Easton ACE Longrod, 1 Beiter Longrod, 1 Posten and now I have a Posten Slim Jim. I only shoot one bow at the moment. Its always good to keep spares so you can compare and see which one works best.

We have quite a collection as well but I'm not sure if either of us will ever use the Posten so may sell them or pass them on to someone at the club.

Jim Posten seems to have upped the quality but delivery was oh! so slow.
