At the minute i've got a full set of X10 (On Bowtech), Full Set of Easton ACE (My recurve stuff on loan to Kellog) and a Doinker D2 Elite (Playing with on Bowtech). And I want the twins to go with the doinker and to try a Posten set to see what all the fuss is about :-s.

I think the fuss is actually in the unique design which seems to suite the US market. I would say from experience of the first set that you need some kind of additional dampening, either the Black Jax or a doinker bomb type. They look very good and bearing in mind they were originally designed for hunters, they do a reasonable job.

For actual vibration dampening we have found that the Doinker Carbon Elite, MAC Triad, OK Better One and CEX2 all to be better than the Posten without additional suppresion.

I really like the Doinker - The X10 is top dog and gives the best feel, but the doinker kills the bow dead. 34in ACE wobbled too much - the 30in with a doinker on the end would probably do the same job as the Doinker but they're rare.

Posten...I just want to see what all the hype is about, really. In it's stock form it's an aluminium tube with holes drilled in it, you can order some carbon to be glued inside it. There's quite a few different incarnations - Drilled, slotted, with and without carbon...

Be very careful with the powdercoated finish on your new rods.

Jim did not appear to do a thorough pretreatment on my rods. Mine chipped rather easily, I have just had them re-powdercoated professionally and they attributed the chips to lack of pre-treatment. Jim may have improved thing in the last 6 months, he may not.

Hopefully Jim's quality now matches his customer service, which is extremely high.

Alex.

They are very rare, I don't think Easton ever made a 30" ACE longrod, they did make a 29", I still have one.

The "Standard" lengths are 24", 29" and 34" but you could (though not any more I think) have them "Custom-Cut" to any length you wanted. Consequently there are 30" ones about, you see them periodically on ebay.com.

I was thinking 29in...it's about 32in by the time it's been doinkered up and had some weight stuck on it :-P.

I've read all the thread on talkarchery last year and the only thing stopping me was choosing a design i liked?
the photos weren't the best showing them........its a shame you aren't happy with yours as they on the thread but i can see your points..........well maybe not the sticker one
has anyone else had any experience of them and can post photos

This link will show you some pic's of my origonal pair of fully customs rods made by Posten

Slideshow of My posten stabs - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

However I also have a full set of the Slim jim models. My current setup is origonal Posten Extender 6" and Long Rod 30" and Slim jim side rods 10" each. They work just as good as my old easton setup. Plus they are customised to match, my old bow but never mind. They still look awsome.
