| I believe the law on knives in public allows a pocket knife to carried providing it is folding, the blade is less than 3" long and the opened length is 6". I stand to be corrected by someone who isn't on their 4th pint of homebrew though! |

| Sounds about right. Law states anything under 3" is legal. You can do a lot of damage with a carpet knife never mind a 3" blade. I carry a carpet knife for work purpose and it usualy lives in the drivers door pocket (deemed highly illegal by the police, as you may stab a car jacker) but as there is also a few screwdrivers, hammer and various bits of kit in there so I think thats the least of my worries as i may get done for going equiped instead.

| All very good reading but look at diving knifes they are over 3 inches so are fishing filleting knifes, Is there not a clause somewhere that says you can have a knife if its used for a sport or specific purpose if you can prove its use? Obv if you carrying it through the street to the club un your pocket its illegal but one at the archery grounds if transported there in your tackle box surely you can use a knife longer than 3 inches? If so how can companies still sell them if they are illegal?
