If I read Rik's post on 'setting up on the clicker' correctly, you watch the clicker as you draw your arrow, and when it starts to move slightly, shift your attention to the aim. In theory it helps to draw the arrow closer to where the clicker 'goes off', which means that you're less likely to struggle to draw through the clicker... I think! Quote:

| Do you not feel when you are nearly at full draw? part of the muscle memory, the string is close to your face and you aproach the anchor point. Time to slow down and smoothly finish the draw through the clicker |

Besides, I'm already at my 'anchor point' and starting my 'expansion' by the time the clicker starts to drop... Maybe I'm doing it wrong, or the arrow's too long!

| Not Setting up on the point PROS: You can maintain target focus Encourages you to keep moving - otherwise timing can go to hell CONS: Can cause issues with consistent rhythm as slight changes in body position can make the clicker position uncertain. Can cause "cautious anchoring" or moving head to the string to avoid the clicker going off too soon! Setting up on the point PROS: Easier to tell your body is in the right position Steadier aiming (less drawing during the aiming phase) Greater control over timing when done right Bow arm side can be loaded to reduce left/right shots Less motion can help reduce drawhand tension CONS: Easier to freeze or stop pulling Can take longer to make the shot as you must take your eyes off the target Shot timing is slower and less fluid Easier to over aim Possible to creep back after the setup when attention is shifted to the target. If you want to know all about clickers and clicker control, I'd highly recommend a subscription to archery focus. There are some great articles on there by Rick McKinney and Mike Gerard on using and controlling a clicker. Enjoy ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
