| antique carbons Morning, if there is anybody there yet! I have a set of carbons which I bought in 1986, they were EXTREMELY expensive at the time and a silly purchase on my part as I was shooting almost exclusively indoors but I did not know that you shouldn"t shoot carbons indoors. Consequently I have a twenty year old set of arrows which look brand new. They"ve only been shot a couple of times. They are marked Easton Aluminum(!!Americans!!!) /Carbon, A/C 1508-2A, and I also know their weight 276 grains, they are 27 3/4ins long and the equivalent of my X7 1816s. For those of you who are interested in such things the coding 1508 is the same system as used on alis, the number 2 is the number of carbon wraps, A shows it is the first series of A/C shafts. Would anybody have any idea where they stand in relation to todays" arrows, where they stand in the "pecking order" of arrows if you like? I certainly have no intention of getting rid of them at the moment, if ever, though they are far too good me, but does anyone also have any idea what their value might be now? They were £200 for 10 (I"ve got 10 )when I bought them 21yrs ago and my wife has never got over it! yours , Iori Jones | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Thanks for your reply Jay, so I get on to the Easton site and other catalogues and I look up ACCs and now they have codings for the sizes i.e.- 3L-00 or 3-60 but nowhere can I find what these codings mean unlike mine ,which tell me something about the arrow! Could someone illuminate me please. Thanks, Iori Jones | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| they have the spine thingy next to the charts, so I think a 3x-40 is like 730 for spine? |

| Looking at a 85/86 Quicks catalogue I would say either (based on old tables 35-40lb @ 27 3/4 1508-2) 3L-04 or 3-04 for ACC's if you are shooting 1816 which are more on the weak side more likely 3L-04's. (But this cross referencing should not IMO be used to get some new arrows as tollerances and new string materials and limb efficiencies are much improved) Supplied in sets of 10 £202 for set of arrows. |

| The coding system is as follows the first number is the number of wraps. The second number is the core tube size dia, since all the tubes range from .200" to .271" only the last 2 digits are used. If there are two shafts with the same core tube and similar number of wraps the letters l and x are used to show the weaker spine i.e 3-04 = .680 spine 3L-04= .750 spine 3X-04 = .830 spine (information from the archer's almanac produced by Easton) Best wishes , Mark |
