Clickers

This may sound really dumb, but...

Does a clicker have to have something to click against? The arrows that I use, 28", extend slightly beyond the riser at full draw, and there is no extension on my KAP riser for a clicker to impact against, beyond the riser. Is it necessary? Could I add any kind of extension? How? Be patient with me - I have no local club to go to for advice and rely on this forum for answers to all my questions.

Graham,

A riser mounted clicker does need something to impact against (the riser or an extension). However, it is possible to fit a 'magnetic' clicker, which fits under the sight block. This uses either impact of the clicker wire on the riser/extender, or the magnet hitting the mount to generate the 'click'.

I use such a beast manufactured by Cavalier. It's a touch expensive but works well.

This link shows the item I have:

Cavalier Adjustable clicker - NEW

Hope this helps.

Alan

Hi Graham,
If you imagine two clickers one on top of the other, using the same screw to fit to the riser. Put the arrow on the bow and set the uppermost clicker over the arrow, leaving the lower one beneath the arrow. When you draw the bow the top clicker will flick down and strike the lower one with a click sound. If that isn't loud enough, replace the lower clicker with a stiffer piece of metal.

doh !

theres always a simpler solution isnt there !

heehee

i had a similar problem - i DID have a magnetic clicker but due to the type of sight i use i had to mount it on the 'wrong' side of the riser which resulted in the magnetic block obscuring my sight ring at 50 and 60 yards so i went to B & Q and got some aluminium edging strip to play with (handy my riser has a second button thread / a built in rest / a little threaded hole to hold the thing straight) -

(phone photos - apologies for dodginess)

Great idea

Yet another great idea. Thanks
By the way, how do you manage to insert a picture into the post? When I go to "insert image", I only get the option to insert one from another web-page, not from my computer.
Who's the spectator on the shelf???

Hi Graham!

If you click HERE you'll see some of the types available and also an extension plate - gives you some idea of costing.

to insert an image you have to have it hosted somewhere (either on your own webspace etc or here at AIUK if youre a subscriber) then use the [ IMG ] picture URL [ /IMG ] tags (without spaces) to insert it

and the spectator - heehee - one of the myriad gibbons / lemurs / cows that lurk around the spare room (dont ask)
