| Parabolic Points Hey all I recently got 12 ACCs from Merlin (ordered 8pm Tuesday, dispatched 2pm Wednesday, received 10am Thursday - fast, no?) and they came with Easton One-Piece Parabolic Points. I wasn't paying too close attention to these when I ordered them, and was mildly surprised that the ends were rounded - as in, the arrows are not sharp. I figured this wouldn't make much difference to target archery, I don't see the points having any trouble with target faces and bosses, but this brings to mind the question - why do these points exist? What were they designed to do that is different from normal points, and seem only to be made for Redlines and ACCs? (that's what it says on the website, anyway) Thanks. ![]() |

| shot in the dark here but if there meant for shooting into foam bosses etc rarther then straw ones etc then perhaps they don't need the sharp point to be able to push through the material, another point may be that having a blunt point would make it harder to penetrate into the boss so avoiding shoot throughs that may happen with 'pointed' piles | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| The Easton stainless steel break off points on my ACE's come to a point. That being said the screw in bulge points I was using prior were much more rounded. |

| Certainly for target use I'm actually a fan of the 'not so pointed' piles. Sharp points are basically unecessary as even the rounded tip has enough force behind it to enter any boss (chipboard, side of shed etc- though not recommending you try it) Sharper points- where the very tip would be thinner- i think would tend to wear far faster possibly giving extra 'matched-weight' issues between different arrows of the same set. Some of those pointy points can actually give you quite a scratch if handled inappropriately. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| I was surprised that arrow points for recurve and compound target archers were not "sharp" points. I used to shoot blunt crossbow bolts, but longbow archers do have pointy arrow points. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
