Question bohning x vane same as max fletch?

i've noticed that x vanes seem to be popular, so i am thinking of switching from a standard shape vane. now i can get x-vanes but are they any different better/worse than elite plasti- fletch max shield, which also have grooves and r half the price?

Plus how much better r they than standard vanes, what r the real world advantages or disadvantages with them (compound target shooting)

I'm also kinda interested in X vanes to be used with recurve. I've read somewhere that they perform the same as spinwings/kurly. Anyone knows anything about this?

We pay £7.56 per 100 + £2.02 shipping from Bullseye feathers and they come within a few days from the USA to UK.

eBay.co.uk Shop - Bullseye Feathers: Bohning Target X-Vanes: Bohning Target X-Vanes LP 4 Parabolic Black Pk 100

I think a total of £9.58 for 100 is great value.

No idea what the difference is. When archery_mum first started shooting nano's last year Marcus recommended the x-vanes and they turned out to be the best fletch she had used, so we just stuck to them and now we usually buy about 3 - 500 at a time from Bullseye.

the Max vanes have lateral ribbing (as to the easton ones) that the xvanes don't have...

I like my X-vanes....but never shot the max vanes...so can't comment on them

I tried both types of vanes out this season with my ACE's... the x-vanes grouped better and gave a slightly better sightmark (negligable difference if grouping is ok!!). I went for the x-vanes (black) instead of the max vanes (purple)... enough said???

I'm afraid to say there is no point throwing points away just because of a colour!!!
