Merlin Pin nocks

Anyone else used/using these? I bought some a month or so ago, put them on my X10's and let rip. First one failed yesterday (having seen less than 1000 shots) and upon checking I discovered cracks in two more. These are now going in the bin. Anyone else had problems?

I got some a month or so ago - rather disappointed with them.

When I put them on, they were VERY tight fitting. So mush so that I had to use a pair of pliers to get enough grip on them to fully get them on the pin.

After a couple of sessions, one nock snapped in the middle, one fell off completely, and another couple were loose.

I have ditched them in favour of Goldtip pin nocks from Bowsports. These are avialable in the colour I want and appear to be well made.

To the best of my knowledge the MAC Pin nocks are made by Bohning and I think Merlin just rebrand them so they arn't actually made by Merlin themselves.

I have had some good scores with them so consistent enough in that sense. However, using them with Easton pins in Navigator arrows I have noticed the following worrying symtom: hairline cracks appearing, usually running from the mold injection points, parallel with the pin. These cracks appear to be due to the tightish fit already noted by others and did not seem to be a problem in terms of causing the nock to break on shooting BUT it can't be good can it? Putting a little soft wax on the pin before fitting them seemed to help a bit but was not a complete cure. I've stopped using them now and perhaps avoided a future injury as a result.

I agree with Darthter that the Gold Tips seem much tougher, and I've just got a good FITA score using them at the weekend so maybe they're a better bet. Am now trying Beiter in-out nocks though (see the "Pin-nock obsessive" thread for further details of my search for the perfect nock!). Cheers The Meggy

Ive been using these since the start of the year with no problem. They are tight to get on my arrowsmith pins putting them on with a screw action seems to be the best way I have found

Yeppers, I had one fall off mid-flight and upon inspection of my others found about half had splits down the side of the barrels making them loose.

However, in Merlins defense I only went for Merlin nocks because club members had complained that the Easton ones had done the same. I am coming to the conclusion that it is a fundamental flaw with the pin nock design. You may find that the higher the poundage, the quicker they split. That said they are still much cheaper than the Easton nocks.
