FAT X7's!! - which nocks & unibushes?

I’ve just got myself some almost new X7’s for the (forthcoming!) indoor season off Ebay, which are 2212 size/spine rating. They’re the right size and spine for me, and I thought I’d spend the long summer evenings (ha!) over the next few months putting wraps on them and some lovely 4” feathers. No problem there, you might think.

The one thing that struck me however, when they arrived was how FAT they are! They’re almost the size of my little finger, which is going to be great when it comes to linecutters indoors, and I’m really looking forward to shooting with them.

Now for the problem – they’ve come fitted with unibushes, and have what I can only describe as a “bloated fat version” of a G nock on the back of them, which in itself is nearly an inch long! When I tried nocking an arrow onto my bowstring to try them out, they simply fall off the string and wont click on at all.

So my question is – does anyone know how to fit a standard G nock onto these fat little beasts, so that they’ll sit on a recurve string easily?

Do I have to get different unibushes to make them fit? I don’t really want to go down the road of building up my serving as I won’t then be able to use that string for my other arrows.

Any ideas?

I considered not replying as I didn't want to talk indoors yet!
I have 2214s (my first arrows) and I've kept them with a view to using them indoors. Though that hasn't happened yet I did go as far as changing the bushing to accept a smaller nock to suit the strings/nps I use. If it is purely string fit in your case the large nocks do come in small groove sizes.

X7s use unibushes for G nocks upto size 1914, above that size they use Super UNI bushing which takes super nocks or 3D supers. unlike tel says, im sure these nocks do not come in two different groove sizes as the g nocks do, if they do then ive never found them!

also be aware that easton have stopped production of their xx12 sizes, so finding spare unibushings, etc. might be difficult

EDIT: cheers dave for putting my two posts together into one, i forgot

Arrow

I'm going on the fact that the super nocks I have are the same fit as the beiter no.1s I use - I took it that meant they were 'small' groove?! In any case the bush comes in a smaller size to suit g nocks.

ah right, im using 3d super nocks and they are much larger. does that mean super nocks are the equivalent of small groove and 3d super nocks are the same as large groove? i think the bushings might be hard to find now theres no production coming from easton any more. may be able to pick up some end of line before stores sell out?

That's the thing I'm after! Shame they appear to be a discontinued line though - should be an interesting challenge to track some down then. Thanks Tel.

I have used Beiter 19/1 small groove nocks instead of Easton nocks.

I'm not sure how much of what I've got here is new.

Indeed, Beiter size 19 nocks come in small (1) and large (2) sizes, these are pretty much identical to the Easton nocks in length. I have found the transparent Beiter ones to be quite bright as well.

Having examined Easton, Alternative and Bowsports I have been unable to find any mention of a small groove Super nock, whether 3D or normal. However this could just mean that I'm blind.

As Easton have discontinued all xx12 sizes (Why? They were the best!) it will be tricky to get the g-nock bushings for a 2212. True. But some suppliers may still have them.

Are you saying there is a Beiter nock option for a super-uni-bush?? (I really hope so; not a big fan of those clumsy big 3-D supers with long 'ears'..)

19/1 or 19/2 for superUNI, or 12/1 or 12/2 for UNI
