waterproof Scope

My present scope is water resistant. It has a waterproof cover. It is great in the dry, but in a wet field with 4 hours of driving rain, it fogs up and becomes useless. Do waterproof scopes really exist. if the eyepiece is removable, a sealed nitrogen filled tube is ok, but damp air can still mess up the eyepiece which is not a sealed unit especially if it is a zoom one. I am looking to replace my scope. I have been looking at a Bresser Optics.
It even comes with a fitted cover. Will it be waterproof and fog proof in reality.

For good reviews of scopes you're better off looking on the Bird Spotting forums and sites, they seem to know what they're talking about, presumably as they use them in many more environments than we do.

I'll recommend Celestron or Nikon.

I've used them both before and they are equally good.

Both waterproof and they do not fog up =)

Bowsports carry this scope on their website. I will ring them up and get their opinion.

I use a Helios Falcon and I can't fault it in any way.

It also includes a large eye piece which allows easy viewing if you wear glasses ( the reason I tried it, and paid for it the same day )

Smile Hawke Endurance spotting scope

Hi wingate
If you require a waterproof scope, Check out this one Hawke Sport Optics : Endurance Spotting Scopes the optics are fantastic I have found that they are comparible wit the higher end nikons and opticrons and far better than the bressar.
The Scope is a Hawke endurance it is 100% waterproof in its self and it also comes with a protective cover, I have owned mine for about a year and have had know problems at all. (i have shot in very bad conditions with this scope)
I have the 70mm version which is very bright, and very powerful you can see the paper texture on some taget faces at 90m.
When I was looking for a new scope, I spent a month checking out what was about, I ended up in a camera shop in peterborough which specialises in equipment for bird watchers, They put out there whole range for me to test and with the exception of the leica this scope was head and shoulders above the rest. Price Look around but I found that they range from £170 _ £190 and they are worth it.
Nick
sorry about being so wordy but this scope is very good kit.

Spotting Scope

I own 3 spotting scopes. 2 Kowa 50mm 20-40x and a 80mm Konus. I own the scopes not for archery but rather for small bore and high power rifle target shooting.

For the money, Konus is an excellent value. A 80mm Konus sells for about 20% of what a 80mm Kowa would.

There is a world of difference between water resistant and water proof.
I use a swarovski HD80 ( I used it for birding before returning to archery) . It has an 80mm primary optic and I use either a 20x or 20-60x zoom, also both fully waterproof. It has probably spent 2 months in solid rain over the 8 years I've had it and never a problem.
It also has a 30year guarentee.
The 65mm ATS65 starts at around £650-£700.

A good place for a range of scopes is warehouse express:
