Most expensive stabiliser ever?

I guess the answer to this may well be "no" given the price, but just wondering if anyone has tried/used the Arc-Systeme XS PRO stabiliser (see Arc Systeme : Products) available from Alternative Sporting Supplies for a modest £304.16 on special order? It looks pretty cool, but then it damn well ought to for that sort of money...

Thats nothing compared to the investment you've put into that beer belly Graham! Must have cost thousands!

Yeah, I tried one on loan from the local shop. It doesn't work.

What? A beer belly?
Great idea - try out a new beer belly for size before you buy!
Could extend to "rent-a-gut'

It doesn't work Archer Thom? For £304.16 and it doesn't work???!!! And there I was hoping it would send me into the top rankings with fame, fortune, adulation etc. Ah well, will save my money then I guess. Maybe I will be able to buy more beer... Although I always thought my beer belly was fairly modest compared to some, plus of course it hides my impressive six-pack Cheers Coach , I'll get you for that one some time

for 300+ I would want some kind of automatic arrow launching device, the problem is going to be some one with lots more money than sense will see this, see its the most expensive thing going and by it as it must be the best.

I've tried the Fiberbow longrod and I thought that was expensive at 120quid, and only slightly better than my HMC's. for that amount of money they could pay for some coaching somewhere which would add more points.

Ok, just to make a few points clear:

1) The longrod, not the beer belly. I'm sure the beer belly works very well (added stabilisation!).

2) Why I disliked the longrod:

I use the 'traditional' version of the XS-PRO, called the Carbone Pro, which is a longrod (same rod as on the XS), with a slidey v-bar and sidebars mounted on it. It's about as expensive as the XS but I got mine cheap (check both out at Arc Systeme : Products). The XS is a longrod which is attached parallel to the line of shot via a shortrod and offset bracket. The idea is that the rod can be placed either side of the riser and slid forward and backward to create the ideal balance. I believe that this is intended to be a compound stabiliser as side bars cannot be fitted to it, and recurve bows tend not to have a side balance problem to the extent that compounds do.

On a compound, using a longrod and a sidebar or offset bracket to balance the bow works because the weight is in about the same place as the weight which is being compensated. On the XS the weight is *all* on one side, meaning that while the bows static balance is as good as with any other stabiliser (nothing to shout about for the money) the bow has a tendency to pull outwards when shot. It's not so much that the stabiliser is terrible, just that it doesn't work as well as cheaper alternatives.
