Limb dowel removal

Has anyone heard of 'normal' ILF limbs on which the dowels cannot be removed (necessary to stick them on an Axis among - apparently - other things)? I have heard comments that those on the INNO limb don't come out, but I don't know who tried this and what methods they used.

Is it a requirement of limb manufacture that those pieces are removable?

UPDATE

The dowel on the INNO limb is glued in place, and it is also thinner than the Axis kit. Therefore these limbs are incompatible (and no, don't suggest drilling a bigger hole!)

Could anyone tell me what current top limbs do fit the Axis kit?

I don't think Border limb dowels are glued in place. I removed mine from my XP10s a few times and I know people who have shot Borders on Axis risers.

Not sure about any others I'm afraid.

G3s fit

I think the G3 were glued in too - they just took a little effort to get out.

If you Google "Hoyt Axis Samick Extreme" I think you'll find evidence of at least a few Axis/Samick hatchet jobs. But I haven't converted mine so can't tell you how much modification was required.

I know someone who can use a milling tool to drill out the hole if necessary, so I guess that would be an acceptable solution. Certainly more acceptable than the idea I saw of milling a dovetail into the Axis - I spent years looking for it lol!

Thanks all, if anyone does have specific knowledge feel free to post.

True

They were a s*d to remove ( a lot harder than the ones on my old Merlin Elites which are border ML2's re badged ) I had some brass inserts for the Merlin limbs which would not fit the Winex limbs ( winex hole to small a diameter ) and in the end I was very kindly supplied with some actual Axis inserts ( minus the spacer) and then used ali tubing to fill in for the spacer.

Also the rear dovetail groove needed sanding out to fit the Axis and this is not the first time I have seen Win & Win limbs needing this done to fit other brand risers.
Lastley the Winex Limbs are great and at the price Merlin are selling them for I found it impossible to justify the extra £100 plus for the Inno's or even the Hoyt 900CX limbs. But then that may be me being a stingy g*t.
