Finger tab query I am currently using a platform tab. I have noticed that the leather finger tab has the impression of the two brass nocking points on them. Should there be this impression or do I need to trim the leather a tad to increase the spacing between the index finger and middle finger.

It's not a bad answer though, KC It does stiffen your arrows a fair bit! However, I shot brass nocking points for quite a while and although they left dents in my tab I never felt the need to increase the space.</p>

RE: Finger tab query I think replacing brass nocking points by coloured threads of polyester may be an improvement. It will minimize friction with the tab and reduce (a little) the weight of the string. As for the spacing, I increased it on my tab mainly to prevent any contact with the nock of the arrow. Depending on the finger pressure, a finger may slide against the nock and disturb the flight of the arrow. Anyway, if you wish to keep your brass nocking points and you don't touch the nock with the tab, managing clearance on your tab is a good idea in order to prevent friction. You may see no effect at short ranges, but it could have some at long ranges.

RE: Finger tab query I'm not confident about tampering with the bowstring just yet, so would it be advisable to remove one of the brass nocking points. If so which one? Also there was mention that the brass knocking points would stiffen the arrow. What sort of effect will this have on the flight of the arrow? And would removing one nocking point reduce the stiffening? Thanks

| RE: Finger tab query As Barry said - get rid of the brass. Just thin strips of masking tape rolled on with a bit of glue to weatherproof it would be preferable.

RE: Finger tab query I suggest you keep two nocking points (replace brass by thread or other light material) because you may misjudge the area you put your fingers on. You may touch your nock and your arrow wil fly oddly .

RE: Finger tab query I have just replaced my brass nocking points with braided poyester upholstery thread. A 15" length centred, knotted, wrapped over, knotted wrapped, etc and secured with super glue. Nice and neat. It changed my sight marks by 4 mm at 60 yards, so the string is moving a bit faster, all to my advantage. Does anyone know how many feet per sec faster?
