| On the size issue, I would have thought it better to go for a 'standard', i.e. 23" or 25" riser rather than the "odd" sized 24". Having said that, I haven't shot a BMG so can't tell you much about it. Of the risers you mentioned, I have shot a Merlin Elite. What can I tell you? It's the sweetest riser I ever tried - much nicer than anything you'll get from the major manufacturers like Hoyt for example. The finish is anodised rather than painted, so it's much more durable, although still not bombproof. My next bow will be an Elite, as soon as I can afford it - hopefully later this year.

| The BMG seems like a very nice riser, but it's very expensive for what it is. I would never buy a bow without trying it first, but I suppose your options are very limited in that respect. If in doubt, I'd try a popular or British-made riser from a reputable source for around the £200-300 mark. Best of luck ![]() |

| you guys are brilliant, thanks...looks like it will be the Brit made CNC toy, and enough for new arrows in the pocket! Whole new kettle of fish opening up! Thanks very much, I'll let you know how I get on. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Get the BMG. You'll definitely have the "wow" factor on the line (or the the "what" factor from people who don't know) and you'll know that you've got the most expensive riser on the market (except maybe the fibrebow?). I would have liked to try one but they're hard to get hold of. Also, a plus for you is that yamaha grips fit this riser. That said, wood grips are very nice and less prone to slip (from sweaty hand). | Two of the people I admire most in the sport, Simon and Lana Needham both shoot BMG risers so they must be pretty good. My personal favourite at the moment is the Helix, but what you really have to is try them out for yourself ,what suits me may not suit you, I loved the feel of the W&W Infinite the first time I picked one up, but I know several people who find the narrow grip really uncomfortable. If you like the Yamaha then I think that the nearest you will get is the Sebastion Flute riser, although 'mid priced' some very good archers are using them. I think that what you have to do is make up a short list of three or four and then find a way of trying them.

| BMG is probably the best machined riser on the market and light at only1100 grams. As slowhand says both young Simon (our technical guru) and Lana togeather with myself and 2 more of our club shoot it. Simon was also talking to one of the top Americans at the vegas shoot who agreed and said he would shoot it as well if he was not tied to his american sponsor. The reason for the high cost is because there are only a few companies can manufacture to Magnus's tolerances. Thats the good news. Bad news is that it is currently out of production as he is working on a new design. I have heard acouple of good reports about the Sebastian Flute riser but not seen it yet. It is based on the Yamaha superfeel as far as I know. (W&W bought out some of yamaha's technology) For limbs look at Winnex or Hoyt G3. Not a lot to choose between thm.

| Some time ago I reccomended an Italian company selling BMG bows at prices far better than anyone in the UK. If my memory serves they are called Cessenarco, but if you search this site for BMG you may turn-up the web address too. Adam |
