assuming you mean just the riser and limbs and string... shouldnt it be closer to £110? (checking on alt services)

if you are ok with £160 though, i agree about the winstar and challengers... (as well as about the XX75s....)

I would buy a 20 quid sight and a 7 quid quiver and put the 70 quid you'll save into stuff that will make a difference, ie bow and arrows.

And for £160 you could get a GM riser and Challenger Craft limbs, which I think are slightly better than the EvoII.

And definitely get a bow sling and stabiliser - they'll make a huge difference.

The argument on cheap sights goes along with longrods - the more money you spend the longer it will last and be generally better (IE, Beiter vs Cartel, ACE vs Black Sheep). Same applies to sights - you could get a striker one for £20 but expect it to break. Spend money and generally you'll get better build quality one that can go on the next bow you buy.

Yeah, but when you're on a budget the money is better spent on stuff that really makes a difference - arrows and limbs. All a sight needs to be is solid, and even cheap ones are solid and remain so provided you maintain them properly.

2 things I wouldn't spend much money on initially.
1) Limbs, you will what to increase poundage, therefore Evo11's
2) Arrows, need new arrows with new limbs, therefore I'd say Ali's (Jazz,or Platinum) or cheap carbons (like Cartel Strikers...but only if you can get a decent spine).
Once you at your desired poundage and draw length then spend as much as you can on arrows and limbs

i agree.

as long as the sight has enough adjustment and is solid it will be fine. i've seen some people using the cartel ones and they seem like a budget copy of the shibuyas, which is a v. good design. also they havnt broken and for 20 odd quid seem a good buy.

For £45-ish, Cartel do a clone of the Surelok - it's called the Activa. I'm using one and it's definitely a good buy. (That's not to say that if I had £200 to spend on a sight, I wouldn't have the Surelok instead!)

yeah in time if you want to upgrade stuff go for it.

but initially i think a cheaper sight would be fine. it will do the job as wel as one twice the price.

the best thing to spend is time on practice - afterall the bow will only shoot as well as the archer.
walk before you can run etc

In fact, pretty much my entire setup consists of the cheap stuff (see profile), and that hasn't stopped me getting to first class and beyond with it (shot a bowman score the other weekend ). The only area where the money buys you points almost immediately is arrows - do buy platinums (xx75s) if you can.

Essentially, buy intermediate club level stuff now (like the evo 2 or similar), and upgrade it when you're experienced enough to appreciate the difference and cope with the faster setup carbon/foam limbs and carbon arrows produces.

Agree about Cartel stuff being good for the money, I had a Cartel tournament sight bought new for £12.75 from eBay (Thanks Targetcraft £15 cheaper than other vendors!) which served me very well and now I have an Arc Systeme SX10 carbon (again from T.craft) my daughter uses the cartel, and we have both shot well with it.

As always though try to have a shoot of the bow and sight setup and be sure that it's the one for you.

Good luck and happy hunting.
