| If an arrow spins too fast it will start to spiral in flight (gyro effect). Some people have reported this occuring with Elite spinwings. The spin rate of an arrow overall increases during the flight. If the spin rate goes too high (at the longer distances if at all) the arrow will start corkscrewing. By going up in fletching size you are increasing the drag torque on the arrow. This allows for a higher spin rate without the gyro effect becoming significant.

| Ok your post makes perfect sense. Now read what is written in mine again - as that isnt written quite so clearly!! -so does that mean they are prone to corkscrewing or they will not corkscrew

| I can't do better than Joe, but I can answer your second question. It means that you stick the spinwings on the wrong way up. So that they wrap themselves around the shaft. Then you bend them back on themselves - so that they stand up. This makes them easier to apply, and gives them a lower profile. Kae.

I need something that will get me there again - which I why I was looking at smaller spinwings (1 9/16")

| Size of spinwings doesn't have very much effect on sightmark except a bit at 100 yards (more a case of reduced lift than increased drag). Spin wings are best fit straight with no offset. Any offset will seriously damage your sightmarks .All spinning arrows will corkscrew to some extent. At the low spin rates you normally have with spinwings <5000rpm the effect is insignificant compared with the benefits.

| No just put them on straight as Joe say. Offset is built into the curl. I used 1 3/4 on 27" ACE 850's I tried the 1 9/16th and they flew dreadfully My prefered fletch is Quicks Rite Flights. I'm told you should put these on at an angle but I never did. | |||||||||||||||
