Hoyt Helix

I am contemplating buying a Helix to replace my Petron riser, are there any pointers I should be aware of, or will the transition be painless apart from having to part with cold hard cash????

Because of the shape of the riser, the button is set 1/2" further back than on other risers.
But that only really matters if you are using a button.

Kae.

It's to do with the positioning of the handle within the riser, I'm sure someone with a helix will be able to elaborate more!!

Are they worth the price?? I have not shot with one yet but I have checked the weight against the Petron and they seem to be the same.

the arrows need shortening because the grip on the helix is narrower and thinner, thats if you are using a clicker set to the end of the clicker plate.
the helix is lighter than the aerotec, and feels much better shooting, most people who have bought a helix have improved their PB's.
but the usual advice is to try befor you buy, there are other handles out there, one will work best for you, its just the finding bit thats a pain.
hope this is of some help

You may not have to chop any length off your arrows, Its about bow geometry, limb angles and deflex of riser, button and grip position, as I found when I acquired my Matrix yesterday. If your Petron had similar Geometry IE followed the Earl Hoyt Ideal no action need be taken, with my Win & Win Exfeel if you drew a straight line from the base of each the limb pockets or lay an arrow across these points the line/arrow would pass through a point just in front of the pressure button/pivot point with the Matrix this line is about 19mm behind that, in the gape of the grip, basically the limb pockets are closer to you than with other risers.

I had to cut my arrows by 12mm when I got the Helix. It is the smoothest, quietest, best feeling riser I have ever shot. I also think (and this is purely subjective based on my experiences) that the Helix may not be the ideal riser for the novice or someone fairly new to the sport. When you get the shot right the Helix is fantastic and I've shot a fair few pb's with it, but when you dont get it right it isn't as 'forgiving' as some others.
