| Hi gcentral that would probably be an ok bow for the first couple of months but I think you would soon out grow it . Your post leads me to assume you are going to do a beginers course if this is the case your best bet would be to save your money till you have completed your training and then take advise from your coaches . If you find you really get into the sport and want to enter competions etc. this bow would be no use as it wont take a sight ,stabiliser, and would probably be to low a poundage . Hope this helps and good luck .

| Hi Georgia, The best advice I can give you is don't spend any money until you've completed your beginners course! The people at the club should point you in the direction of a reputable archery store near you, if there isn't one locally try and persuade your parents to go for a drive.Custom Built Archery is in Eakring Nottingham about 35 miles away They are one of the best stores in my opinion in your area, they will give you advice on what and what not to buy and have packages tailored for beginners at very reasonable prices their web address is www.custombuilt.co.uk There may be other stores also near you, but I don't recommend buying your first bow from eBay. Hope this helps in some small way.Best Regards J.

| I would advise you not to buy a bow until you've done at least 3-6 months shooting in a club environment, and then NEVER buy anything from Ebay without expert guidance. None of our beginners who have any desires to be in archery any length of time would consider a bow like that you've pointed out, it's far too basic except for a club doing 6-week beginner's courses.

| One thing I have learnt, when buying archery equipment, especially a new bow, is that you can't beat talking to an experienced archer and/or someone at your local archery supplies. A bow and other equipment may look very nice in a glossy picture on the www or in a magazine, but it might not be suitable for you. If you go to your local archery shop, tell them that you are a beginner looking for your first bow, arrows etc, they will have you kitted out with the best bow for your size/strength/requirements with a set of arrows that work with the bow and the necessary kit that you need to get started. From my experience, archery shop staff are a pretty friendly bunch (they don't usually bite ) and are useful people to know. Buying stuff of the www is IMO only worth doing, if you know EXACTLY 100% what you want e.g. a rubber arrow puller. Anything more 'technical' needs to be tried before you buy.Good luck - maybe see you in the 2012 Olympics ![]() | |||||||||||||

Looking at the Long Eaton club website on the beginners courses page (http://www.lefa.org.uk/begin.htm) it says: "For 12 year olds and under, a parent or family adult (18 plus) must complete the course with the child. From 12 to 16 an adult responsible for the child must accompany them at all times." Persuade your parents to let you undertake a beginners' course - the club will provide the equipment during the course (and usually for some time after, possibly for a small fee). The prove to them it is not a "passing fad" by you enthusiasm and commitment. Good luck - archery is a brilliant sport.
