| Comparing string material Now then...does anyone know if there is a string material comparison chart? Something like, it takes 16 strands of BCY to equal 14 strands of Fast Flight, for example. Just wondered if anything has been done like this before. It would come in very handy if you ever considered changing materials.

| Isn't the thing with strand numbers on high-performance materials for recurve strings more about getting a decent nock fit and reasonable forgiveness out of a string rather than shear strength? I'm sure that's what one of the string material manufacturers said on their website but I cannot remember which one... P.

| TPO I am sure you are right. I read recently that the strands are strong enough to take something like ten times the force the bow can apply even when dry fired. Strands affect nock fit and bow speed, so tuning to some extent. |

.Fewer strands are faster, so can improve the tune on a stiff arrow, and vice versa. Also length of servings etc can also be used in the tuning quest. Kae. |
