Question Why do people ask for advice after they have bought their new bit of kit?

I am looking into what to buy. The Agulla and Winstar 2 are both within budget (I may get my hands on an Agulla to try on Tuesday) so logically off I go to search for reviews and member opinions.

During the search I am astounded at how many threads I have unearthed which begin with variations of "I have just bought xxxx, do you recommend it"

Surely the idea of the web is to review your prospective purchase before you buy it, not after.

As a result I have spent far to long picking through such threads. Does anyone know of a resource which can offer unbiased reviews of both the above?

Cheers

Giles

Even if such a place did exist the likelihood of getting an unbiased review is slim. The best thing to do is what you have done and search the forum (check out the other archery forums too). Failing that ask (which you have done)...someone who has tried both might be able to offer you an opinion.

I guess I am more used to the technology sites where they frequently get their hands on new equipment and review it using standard tests.

I am looking forward to getting my hands on the Agulla as this is the one I am drawn to (like the colour options )

Please note, the editing of my thread title has completely changed the meaning of the post and was why it was originally posted in off topic from whence it has been moved.

This was not a serious question, but simply a comment on a frustrating part of human nature.

The request for links to Bow reviews was an afterthought and is more serious and useful.

If it's about archery it's not off topic.

If there's '.....' in your title then it's harder to find information when using the search function.

Thing was, it was not about archery. It is sunday afternoon and I thought to provoke some discussion about human nature and why people spend their hard earned cash on something and only then, after it is too late seek opinion

the '....' was to ensure the topic was not initially read seriously and is why I feel the editing has completely changed the meaning of the post, but hey ho. Maybe I should not have added the serious question as an afterthought.

Lets keep it real and hope someone can come up with some reviews.

It's pretty normal for people to look for some sort of confirmation after a purchase, so they can get that feeling that they did make the right choice after all. It's easier to put to rest those creeping doubts about having made a wrong decision if someone else backs it up.

It's why a lot of advertising and endorsements are targeted at existing customers as much as new ones - to give you the confidence in the product and the brand you've just invested in. Helps to ensure good word-of-mouth references and repeat purchases.
