Cartel K-sight

any good? A.S.S. says its "micrometric" but it doesnt have click adjustment. I hear it's ok, anyone got complaints?

Is click adjustment totally necessary?

How far will the K-sight take me?

Whats your favorite sight (relative cheapness appreciated)?

Its a case of you get what you pay for - the cartel sights are inexpensive and comparison with others will show why. If you search the forum you'll almost certainly read about them working loose/self adjusting - not good obviously - but how bad this problem is will depend to a certain extent on how well you shoot and how much vibration is present in your set-up.
Having said all that I have recently bought another bow and during the transition have used my old cartel whilst setting up and tuning the new kit without problems, and shot up to Bowman level and won a couple of tournaments with it last year - can't be totally useless then!

The Cartel K sight is the same as the Cartel 2000, only difference is the arm on the 2000 has CNC machined cut-out sections to make it lighter.

The K and 2000 get the job done, they have both vertical and horizontal micro-adjustments (which is helpful at outdoor distances), but no click-adustment; and they're quite stable. Of the cheaper sights, these two are much better than most other models. For example on the "lower" Cartel models (Club, Midi, Tournament etc.) the sight block screws tend to shake loose with vibration so you have to reset your sight every few shots.

If there is another sight in this price range that performs as well, I haven't (yet) heard about it. Micro-click is nice, but expensive - you'd be looking at 2-3 times the price of the Cartel - and if you're buying your first sight it's probably not necessary. You could also "budget-upgrade" the Cartel K or 2000 with a fancier sight-pin, anything with 8/32 thread should fit the sight block.

The downside with the K-sight is that there are no scales marked on the sight block. All very well having micro adjust, but not much use when you can't see how much you have adjusted.

Not much of a problem at shorter distances but would possibly be a factor when shooting the longer ones.

I managed to aquire a better sight block and pin, which does have scale markings and is all metal contruction. The sight ring on the k-sight is plastic.

My son uses a Cartel K-Sight, but for my money they're too fiddley too many springs to come unloose and fly all over the place. SF have just recently brought out a mid ranged priced sight ( Standard carbon sight at £69 at CBA) I know it might sound a lot but for the price its as good as some higher price sights, and has many of the features of same.

Cheers John

Someone at my club uses a Cartel K/2000 (not sure which) and has had continual problems with bits working loose. You can hear the rattling from 30 yards away!

Having said that, he shoots OK with it. (Must be wearing ear plugs ).

There does seem to be a big gap between the Cartel and the next price point when it comes to sights. Personally, I'd try to stretch to the SF. Or you could look at the Artens, but that's a whole new can of worms.

Don't forget the K&K Tigerseye recurve sight - fantastic value for money. I think new ones still pop up on eBay now and again.

I'm sure Murray can wax lyrical about it

My son uses a Cartel 2000 and has had no problems with it (shooting upto Junior Bowman with it). For the money it's probably the best out there! Although I agree once you can afford to get something better a micro-click type sight is far easier to use and there's less likelihood of any of those working loose while you're shooting.

I'm using a cartel K-sight on my eclipse and haven't had a problem with it. It works really well with a full stabilizer set which help take away a lot of the vibration.

This mounting block came loose after approximately shooting about 1000 arrows when I first moved to my eclipse from a gm. It is most unfortunate however that when I was using a GM without any stabilizers, the sight block, little screws as well as mounting block would get loose ever so often

My advise to you is to get a better sight if you can afford it but the K-sight will work wonders for the price if you're using a bow with a "tec bar" which is supposed to dampen vibration as well as a stabilizer set or at least the basic A/C long rod of you're target shooting. Happy shooting

I've had this with my Shibuya but never with the previous K-sight. Just make sure it is still tight after each end and a K-sight should be OK for now.
