Where do you find holiday insurance for archery please ??

Hi,
we'll be shipping off shortly on hols to an very "archery friendly" place , and I've just been looking at the old insurance documents .... MMMmm ... just as well I have done.
Our (multi-trip, annual) policy covers archery only as a "taster" session and has fairly specific restrictions about number of hours and supervision etc. The wording of the public liability bit is somewhat ambiguous when concerned with the sessions as well.
I've trawled the internet quite a bit and can't find any policies that offer much more than this - some will actually cover equipment - but the sticking point seems to be in how many hours and public liability.

SOOOooo - big question - where do you go to get a policy for the family that will cover the holiday, the equipment and have suitable public liability cover ???

Look forward to the replies,

cheers

Grep.

Cool

You could try here:

Annual Holiday Insurance - Ski Insurance - Backpackers Insurance

It's the "Adventure Travel" section that may help.

I was amused the other day when I was getting a re-quote for Life Cover for my mortgage as I was asked if I engaged in any dangerous hobbies/pastimes like bungie jumping/skydiving etc. I said No! Just Archery. The chap on the phone was quite serious when he said that Archery wasn't considered dangerous as it would be very difficult to shoot yourself. Its just dangerous for the people around you.

I said, you were not there last summer when the bow string came off as I drew back and I thought I had shot myself... the arrow did swing back and knock my hat off.

Hey, would that qualify me for the Fonz Award thing?

Hiya Grepless

The place your going to has 2,000,000 euros worth of liability insurance, specifically including archery

So that's 1 out of 3 "covered" the holiday and bow insurance shouldn't be a problem to arrange.

If you get the GNAS mag Archery UK - on pages 6 & 7 it has an article about the GNAS Insurance. and list activities outside the remit of the GNAS Insurance as an additional arrangment that Perkins Slade can provide quotes for. Worth a investigate if only to find out the cost?

Just to say thanks for the info guys and a little update.

I rang round quite a lot today - and ended up with good ol' M&S !!!

They were the most helpful, and whilst not the cheapest, they certainly covered all the bases !
Even have written into the policy that a bow consists of a riser and limbs - to make sure that they are individual items and not together for costing and get clobbered by the max individual item cost.

So - many thanks for the replies - but who would have thought - M&S doing knickers AND insurance !!

cheers

Grep.
