On a Sunday when an archer turns up to shoot, as a T.O. the only way of determining if the archer in front of me is insured to shoot as a GNAS member is their GNAS card.
Again this does get back to liability which is on another thred.
As a T.O. I must make all "reasonable" steps to determine the archer's valid right to shoot. I know GNAS did put out a notice that ALL archers at a shoot should have the GNAS cards ready to check. A lot of archers get in a humph if you insist on seeing the card, but if someone were to get injured by an uninsured archer the T.O. is responsible for safety at the event. I do not have a list of club seretary's telephone numbers to chase up on the day, so it is only the card to go by. Plus I really should insist on some form of photo id to make sure that you are the person listed on the GNAS card.
Nightmare scenario: Uninsured archer injures a junior archer. Junior archer raises complaint against the T.O. GNAS's insurance company drops me like a lead balloon (as their policy states that if a complaint is raised by Junior against Adult then the Adult is not covered). I get sued for a shed load of cash, with no legal assistance
