A big thank you to all tournament organisers

I'd just like to start a "thread of thanks" to all those archers and club members out there who actually go to the huge amounts of effort it takes to arrange, organise and host a tournament.

I'm the Short Metric League secretary for GOA, and this weekend we're hosting three other clubs at our ground, for some 50 archers. So tonight I've been creating a target list, making sure all the clubs are evenly spread throughout the targets, and that not all club A is on detail A, etc. Then organising the handicap and allowance lists. Tomorrow, with the aid of my office copier I'll be producing score sheets, which I'll have to put peoples names and allowances onto.

Then on Saturday I'll be at the ground helping to mark out the field.

On Sunday is the actual shoot, and I dare say I'll be field captain.

Then some time next week I'll have to produce a results sheet.... The list just goes on, and this is for 'only' 50 archers!!

I now have a far better appreciation for all that's involved in organising a big(ger) shoot, and how much work it involves, so I'd just like to say a huge thank you to those out there who do this on a regular basis, year in, year out.

You are very much the unsung heroes of our sport!!

I've been Tournament Secretary for RRAC for under six months and it's a baptism by fire. I dare say I'll be handing The Pagoda Shoot next year and having shadowed my chairman who ran it this year, it is a MASSIVE undertaking, which scares the begeezus out of me. Plus, I'll be Lady Paramount for the event next year, so even scarier!!

Nice that someone recognises the hard work people on committees do. It can be a thankless job at times.

to all the people who put their time and effort into tournaments, events and general running of clubs!

Being part of the organising committe for our Nationals Tournament, there is a huge amount of work that needs doing! We take it for granted all too much.

As T/O for the Lincoln EMAS Double FITA Star (probably the BEST Double FITA star in the world) for the last 3 years, I appreciate your kind words.
Cake for everyone .
However, we couldnt pull off this humungous triumphs without the work parties and judges. judges get a pretty bad press much of the time, but they all give their time for free so that we can all enjoy our sport.
Lastly, but not leastly, thank you to the competitors. Any tournament without the support of lots of competitors is a pretty lonely affair.
