| We have a junior doing a beginners course who wants it for his Duke of Edinburgh Award. I don't have a lot to do with the beginners, but from what I understand, it needs to be over a certain number of hours, which our course wouldn't cover. So we told him that he could join after the course and we would continue to clock his hours while shooting our club's beginner rounds, etc. However, I do know that he didn't show up during the course on at least one occasion.

| Just looking at my son's activity log for Physical Recreation in the Bronze which he should be completing very soon. He has the duration as six months and has set personal goals - in this case Improve my handicap and Improve my technique by changing my hand position. Then he has a log of attendance and what he did signed by our club secretary. Don't know what else he has to do as he is at school at the moment.

| Duke of Edinburgh Award Hello We have had a few juniors who wanted to do Archery as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. We got them to complete a beginner’s course and then let them shoot on club nights. We had to sign their books every time they were present and they had to work towards a goal for example gaining a better handicap or an indoor classification. We actually got them to gain an Archery Association for schools Badge to show their improvement. Another way would to obtain one of the new FITA awards. This gives them something to take away to show of their time and commitment, and who knows they may return in the future if they enjoyed themselves. Andrew

As the physical part of the D of E award they both did Archery, for the skill part, Dan has done, fishing(bronze), Arrow making (silver),Welding course(gold).Kev has done Powerkiting(bronze), Making a Kite(silver), Fotting arrows and making arrows. There is also a Service part of the award as well as training weekends towards their finals. PM me if you want more advice, I'll be glad to help. I wish them every sucess with the award, it's so rewarding. GOOD LUCK.
