English Crosses

I have just seen on the EAF website that there are now English Junior Crosses specifically for the Metric rounds - does anyone know whether they can be claimed on the day, or do they have to be applied for?

(Pause while I rummage around in my hat sack)
Yes, the EAF Junior Crosses are now available. They can be applied for using the form that is on the website, or, if you are really lucky, you can purchase them at tournaments where there is an EAF person there with a bag of the badges. And, as luck would have it, I am just such a chap, at least for next weekend. So, check out the EAF website (English Archery Federation) to find the qualification levels, then get applying.
Or see me at the Junior Nationals at Lilleshall next week, where I will be setting out my stall. If you wish to apply using scores for tournaments you have shot this season, it would help if you brought a copy of the scoresheet with you.
And, of course, carry on checking out the website, where you will find details of how to be considered for England duty, how to buy EAF items, and other England matters.

I think its really great that Juniors can now claim English Cross awards. Well done to the EAF folks for setting this up.

A couple of points.

Can a Junior make a claim for shooting rounds that are above their age group (e.g. shooting a Metric 1, when they should be shooting Metric 3)?

From what I can see, the form doesn't ask for age, or age group, so it might make it a bit difficult for EAF to check that the claim is correct.

Nick, do you say you were sending them out automatically for the YAA comp on 02June07 or does Tiny have to apply for the lovely new Green one ?

Yes, as it is just score level!

As I have the details of that tournament, I shall contact the archers and invite them to apply (and hand over the dosh).

Can Junior badges be claimed, even if they have a normal one of the same colour?

Come on - even with those false ears you cannot pass for young enough.
I would say no - the achievement has already been recognised.
See you on Saturday!
