Rounds within Rounds

I have a feeling this may have been touched upon before, but I can't find it....

What are the rules governing rounds within rounds? I know that you can single out distance totals for Fita records, but is it permissable to record a National Round score as well when shooting a Western for example? Or even record a Long Metric and a Short Metric when shooting a Fita?
Linked to this question - Apart from claiming records where the first round only is allowed (I believe), what are the rules concerning shooting more than one round in a day? Isn't there a complication with the first round being all sighters for the next?

I think someone will find the other thread on this topic but for now, I think I remember reading that the record is for the round you shot, not for a part of it.
