In case no one else mentions it Murray's Guide is generally taken as a good beginners bible - no point duplicating other's work.
Archer's reference.

Hi moo-mop.

Yes, I actually forgot about that, but it goes into too much detail for me in some areas and miss out other areas all together. Like the rounds etc. And in the doc I have in mind, clubs can add their own information like how to help setting out the field etc. So, yes there will be duplicating of work and it might do nothing for keeping a few more beginners, but I've got this bee in my bonnet now...

The original FITA version is available online free here although I heard GNAS were supposed to have made some changes to make it more GNASy. No certificate template in there, but certificates arent difficult to knock up.
I thought the certificate idea was a missed opportunity on GNAS's part. When I was a kid, everyone at school used to do a gymnastics star scheme whereby you had to achieve a certain level and you got a nice certificate with so many stars on it. The scheme was sponsored by WALLS at the time.
So, GNAS get say Quicks or whoever to print up 10,000 certificates that all say "Quicks" in one prominent corner and then "xxx has completed a GNAS beginners course" or "xxx has achieved GNAS 3rd Class" and distribute them free to any club who asks for them (perhaps pay postage?). Quicks get immediate advertising and kudos with every beginner in the country, GNAS gets brownie points for nothing and every beginner in the land gets a nice certificate for their achievement. Everyone wins! If I was an archery dealer, I would be falling over myself to get on this one.

What might also help with getting people to sign up to any of the archery bodies we have in this country when a beginner, is for each archery society approach dealers and suggest that a 10% discount voucher redeemable at participating dealers/shops be placed in the information pack issued by said societies when newbies join up. It is most probable that the 10% discount of their first kit purchase would more than cover the cost of joining the societies, which can be quite high if a familly join.
And whilst talking about families, how about a discounted membership for families of say 4 or more? Another 10% off? Every little helps to encourage membership.

I like the idea, but please....noooooo....not Quicks! Anybody but Quicks!

(I'm sure Merlin would go for it!)

My very nearly ex-club took this from Netherhall archers (it's under a GNU licence), we deliberately kept in brief.

OK, to clarify, the downloadable from the FITA website is 70 odd pages.

I did say "or whoever"
I'm sure Merlin would too. I'll suggest it to Ben or Chris next time I see them
