Frostbite

The time has come to give up on summer, and start planning for winter. We have our first frostbite on Sunday, but no one seems to be sure if a compound uses the inner ten or a full ten.

Thanks

I believe, if it's an outdoor round, it is the outer ring

Definitely the outer 10. It's the same as the shortest distance on a FITA.

Agreed, if you are shooting the BA postal league, rules can be downloaded from here.

It is, so you can imagine my annoyance when at last year's Petersfield Floodlit Froistbite it was announced at assembly that; "cause it doesn't matter, compounds are scoring inner tens only."

Now what happenes in the following scenario? You start shooting a frostbite (3 doz at 30m), using the outer 10 for compounds, but decide to change to doing a Stafford (6 doz at 30m). Does the inner 10 rule only apply to a stafford shot indoors or does it apply outdoors as well? Or can't you shoot a stafford outdoors? Just a thought....

You may shoot a "Stafford" outside - or a Gents FITA Indoors. However, Rules 308 and 405 show which rounds are recognised for record, Handicap and Classification purposes. So, effectively, your indoor round shot outdoor (or vice versa) becomes a "local" round, and so local conditions can be applied. It just doesn't count for much. (Why not call it a Double Frostbite?)

Is this for the BA Postal League? Only asking as we've been told the 1st one is in November...

Yes it is for the BA postal, I have looked at the rules and it does say that it starts in November, maybe we are having a practice. God knows we need it

Ha Hem---- one is assuming that ones arrows are going to be near enough to the gold bit to worry about which bit of the gold is the 10.
